Gas pressure exiting the bore of the 6.8 is less than the 10.5, probably under 15,000 psi, the 10.5" is closer to 24,000 if the barrel and gas testing charts posted are accurate. I have a 16" 6.8 and 10.5" 5.56 pistol, they are equally loud.
